Checking in

My class seems to be catching on to the rules and procedures. Of course we will continue to practice. But they are doing great!! I only have to use my "discipline chart with a couple of students. The rest are doing well with the positive rewards. :)

Next week we will review and practice a previously introduced literacy center. I will also introduce 3 more centers. We will practice each of the centers - which includes how to get it out, how to do the center (what is the objective) , how to put it away, and how to come back to the group. Eventually - we will be rotating in groups. I hope I get a support person to come work with students.

I am looking forward to next week with my students.

PBS

We will be using the PBS system this year. It is to reward positive behavior with tickets. I have had to do some thinking on how to best implement this system effectively that I would be able to continue. The idea of tickets seemed like a lot of extra work at first. But I think I have figured it out. I will keep my discipline chart with the blue cards. And now I have another one with yellow tickets. Before when a student broke a rule, they had to pull a blue card. Now I have the option of asking them to pull a yellow ticket to reward following the rules. :) I am excited about using this system. I will start using it tomorrow. I will check back in in a week to record how it is going.

Almost Time

I am looking forward to the beginning of this school year. I spent all last week getting my classroom ready for my new students. There is still a little more to do.
I plan on using blogging this school year to communicate in a different way what we are learning. It is also a tool I can use for reflection.
